We’ve added two new icons to help you quickly identify key candidate information directly from the candidate list and details pages:
![]() | Veteran/Armed Forces icon |
- Designed to highlight candidates who have served in the military.
- Triggered by a simple Yes/No question, now available as a standard question in the Personal section of the application form.
- When a candidate selects “Yes”, the icon will be displayed automatically.
![]() | Custom icon with optional hover text |
A new flexible option enables you to flag candidates using a question customised to your organisation's requirements.
- Enabled via a Yes/No question in the Personal section of the application form.
- Includes an optional hover-over label (up to 50 characters) to add extra context when the icon is displayed.
- The hover label is specific to the application template, allowing the custom icon to serve different purposes across roles by using different application templates.
Improved visibility and filtering
- Both icons appear directly on the Candidate List and Candidate Record pages for at-a-glance identification.
- They’re also available as filters in the “Icon Type” dropdown on the Candidate Listing page, making it even easier to locate relevant candidates.
- Icon visibility is managed individually through Security Roles and is separate from user access levels connected to application template pages.
How to Enable the Veteran/Armed Forces question
- Go to Settings > Application Templates.
- Choose from two options:
- Edit an existing template – click the template name, or
- Create a new template – click New Application Template.
- In the template menu, click Edit next to Personal Section.
- Scroll to the bottom of the question list – find Veteran/Armed Forces.
- Toggle Visible ON to add the question to the form.
- Use the Mandatory toggle to make it Mandatory or Optional.

You can re-word the question text or add pre-question guidance exactly the same as any other application question.
How to enable the Custom icon question
- Go to Settings > Application Templates.
- Edit an existing template or click New Application Template.
- Click Edit next to Personal Section.
- Scroll to the bottom to locate Custom Icon.

- Click Save.
Control icon visibility via Security Roles
1. Go to Settings > Security Roles.
2. Choose the relevant role and open the Jobs & Talent Pools tab.
3. Enable the required toggles:
Security-role toggle | Shows this icon in candidate lists |
---|---|
List Candidate – Icon – Veteran/Armed Forces | Veteran/Armed Forces |
List Candidate – Icon – Custom Icon | Custom icon |
4. Click Save to apply the updated permissions.
Remember: Users must have the toggle ON and access to the job’s candidate list to see the icon.
FAQs
Can I add both questions to the same template?
Yes – simply enable both toggles in the Personal Section.
What happens if I copy or move a candidate to another job—will the icon data carry over?
It depends on whether the target job’s application template contains the relevant questions:
- If the target job includes the Veteran/Armed Forces and/or Custom icon questions:
The candidate’s answers will copy across automatically, and the corresponding icon will be retained. - If the target job does not include those questions:
The candidate’s responses - and the associated icon - will not be transferred. To preserve the icon, make sure the target application template includes the same questions before moving or copying the candidate.
Can I use the Custom Icon for different purposes in different templates?
Yes. The hover-over text is specific to each application template. This means you can tailor the Custom Icon’s purpose per role or department by updating the label in each template.
What if I don’t enter any hover-over text for the Custom Icon?
If no hover-over text is provided, the icon will still display when triggered. The default hover text will show as “Custom Icon”.
Will the icons show in Dark Mode?
Yes, both icons are fully compatible with Dark Mode and designed to meet UI accessibility standards for contrast and visibility.
Can I report on response to these questions in the Advanced Insights Reporting Suite?
Yes, these fields are available within the application data set for reporting purposes. If they are not currently visible, please submit a support ticket requesting the mapping of these fields into the Advanced Insights Reporting module.
